Carin over at "Forever in Blue Jeans" has given the challenge of moms finally getting in front of the camera. It has been fun participating in it, and I dare say it's been a challenge. Last weekend, Shawn and I had the opportunity to go to Barcelona for 3 WHOLE days, all by ourselves, to explore the city, sip some sangrias, and just relax. It was amazing. I've only put a few pictures in this...

It wasn’t so much the predictions as the discussion that was most interesting at last night’s annual predictions dinner, organized by the Washington Technology Industry Association. Will Twitter be acquired in 2010, and why? Who will have the dominant cloud computing platform in the next couple of years? What kind of startup are you looking [...]

Cloudy and rainy here in Michigan today. Enjoying quiet days at home with Eyad. We leave a week from today for Orlando, where it is forecasted to be in the 70's (while it will be in the 40's up here). Tentative plans for our 3 days in Florida: DisneyWorld, a trip to the beach, and Universal Studios. Today's photo is one I took of the mossy ground in a cemetery, while Eyad was taking a panoramic shot...

NTM was too busy to blog for us during Halloween-time, but he did make a couple pictures for that week that never got posted here. I reminded him to get his act together today, and here are the pics. The top one is of Daphne, where a blurry pic was put into 'chrome' and then sepia-ized, and the bottom picture is of me, where he took my picture and put it into 'negative' and then layered a texture over...

The last weekend of October is like a blur to me - it was the last days of my being in The Wren's Nest, and we were clearing out the last stuff, filling the dumpster with loads of boxes, and painting like crazy. Needless to say, Eyad's first Halloween in America wasn't that spooktacular. We still have two un-carved pumpkins sitting on the counter in the kitchen today. He did get a great picture of...

Since we launched Mashable’s 3rd Annual Open Web Awards this past October, you’ve cast over 349,000 votes for your favorite nominees. Over the past few weeks we’ve continued to track the leaders in each category, and now, with just two days left in the nominations period we thought it would be appropriate to take a look at 500 of the current leaders in the competition’s 50...

Sure, I need to write about my great trip to New York City to talk about the Kidlitosphere and Cybils with Betsy Bird , Liz Burns , Anne Boles Levy , and Susan Thomsen . It's true that I've ignored my NaNoWriMo obligations for a long time. Yes, there is indeed a pile of unfolded laundry in the middle of my living room, along with neat stacks of clothes that apparently won't be taking themselves to...

I did the whole YA author thing ... and so when 100 Scope Notes introduced the Debut Picture Book Cover as part of his cover week, I decided I needed to have some fun with it. Presenting, my picture book: Raymundo and the Spinning Balloon, by Tabitha Kibbey. That's about as good as I draw, too. Though I liked the possibilities of the spinning balloon in this picture... Anyway, the instructions if you...

Right around this time last year, I provided you with some easy instructions on how to zombify your photos by using a website called Picnik. And with my new vampire obsession - thanks to Twilight and Vampire Diaries - I thought I'd show you a simple way to digitally transform yourself into a blood-sucking vampire, fangs and all. Once again using Picnik's amazing effects , just navigate yourself to...
