I've been podcasting since 2005, whatever people say. It started as an experiment and moved on to semi-big things when I joined up with PodShow and started to promote PodFest in 2006 and, although I enjoyed it, there was always something missing especially considering how much time I was putting in to editing, publishing and promoting the shows.
Digital entertainment network Mevio bills itself as users’ personal Internet TV, music and radio network. Originally known as PodShow, the company was founded in 2004 by former MTV VJ Adam Curry and technology and media executive and former songwriter/producer Ron Bloom, to help people download and publish podcasts. In a bid to re-brand itself, the [...]
As they say in fashion: One day you are in, and the next day, you are out. And the same is true even for podcasting startups long after podcasting went out of style. Ron Bloom, cofounder of then... [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]
Ed Ovett from Ed's Mix Bag podcast pops on the phone to the show to discuss the various cam show websites that are out there and how much fun he is having with Podshow. I also meet up with listener Chas Creek who bought me a nice meal!
Even as Joseph Biden was courting Florida's Jewish voters in Deerfield Beach Tuesday, dropping Yiddishisms like an old pro, it was the McCain campaign that was grabbing the Chosen People's attention. When Alaska HDTV PodShow host Scott Slone took Palin on an urban hike in February, he captured a telling political detail -- the footage showed that the governor keeps a small Israeli flag by her office...
Scott Parent of the Alaska PodShow visited VPILF Sarah Palin in February for his excellent series. A nice inside view of the gouvenor’s home and office. Comment
I am having problems with our Mevio/Podshow account - after uploading yesterday's show, I discovered that several things with my account wasn't working. The Daily Call player has been fixed - for much of the day yesterday, it wasn't pulling over any of the shows after March - but I am still unable to upload new episodes of the show. Back in April when PodShow re-branded to MEVIO, there was a a fair bit of spitting over the CEO’s comments that the company had “…never believed in user-generated content as a business, or even as a sustainable entertainment offering“. This created all manner of waves amongst podcast producers. This is my personal take on why [...]
Mevio , the early commercial entrant into the podcasting game then known as PodShow, has raised a big, $15 million third round led by Crosslink Capital, with past backers Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Sequoia Capital, Sherpalo Ventures and DAG Ventures. It now is mainly focused on distributing video. The company has now raised over $38 million, with its last raise of $15 million coming in 2006....
Mevio, a video website that was founded by Ron Bloom and Adam Curry started the company originally to podcast. About 4 years later, the founders decided to rename their former company, Podshow to Mevio. Mevio hosts original videos and will allow others to syndicate their content. This idea impressed Crosslink Capital, Sequoia Capital, Kleiner Perkins, [...]
Released today is the news that MEVIO (formally PodShow) secured a third round of funding totaling $15 million. Just how difficult it is to grab a third round? It’s a nightmare. Investors shift from throwing money at ideas to see what sticks, into focusing on what is actually working and becoming a viable business. Mevio’s retraction [...]
These days, even Wall Street analysts are acknowledging that content is no longer king, but MEVIO, formerly known as Podshow, has just received funding from some of the biggest names in the VC world. The company has raised $15 million round in funding, led by Crosslink Capital, along with Klenier Perkins and Sequoia. Maybe online [...]
You probably remember Mevio as PodShow (and if you don’t remember that name, you probably remember one of the founder’s names: Adam Curry). According to NewTeeVee, they’ve just pulled down yet another round of funding, this time coming to the grand sum of $15 million, bringing their total venture funding amount to $38 million. The company [...]
