Let's reuse a graphic I've already posted this week! Taking my pumpkin to a 3-d movie. (BHK's nickname is pumpkin, amongst others. Sorry, GP.) Journey to the Center of the Earth We're hustling to see it... we're fearful it's going to leave the theater before we can catch it...We loves us some 3-d movies. Review later.. we won't be disappointed.. it can be Dr. Tongue's 3-d house of pancakes ... if it's...
THE LONG AWAITED Intel Montevina notebooks are finally shipping - full HD graphics with improved 3-D fits well with FSB1066 and DDR3-1066 memory, all feeding a 3+ GHz dual core CPU or, soon 2.5+ GHz quad core, the first on a laptop. At least, high-end setups have the DDR3 here, and it does help in some cases. Interestingly, DDR3 - despite its slightly high latency on standard modules - does help quite...
Nebojsa Novakovic the Inquirer , Tuesday 22 July 2008. 12:08:00 Missing my (twin) happy memories... Dauger Research has introduced Atom in a Box for the iPhone, a 3D real-time volumetric raytracing iPhone application that visually presents quantum orbitals of a hydrogen atom. Using the iPhone's multitouch interface and accelerometer, the user can reorient and interact visually with the atomic orbital. The software is even able to show the "flow" ...

Here’s a cool Nintendo Wii hack that controls 3D Studio Max with a Nintendo Wii Nunchuck and Arduino as controller. A good way to control objects in 3DS is to use the track view to assign different type of controllers to the various properties of the object you want to control. For instance, if you want to have small vibrations on the tip of a bird’s wing, you can use a Noise Controller. For this...
Melka demonstrates how to use a Nintendo Nunchuck to control 3D Studio Max with the help of an Arduino microcontroller. The code is available so that you can play with it yourself. "Here’s my setup under windows : - Arduino using a WiiChuck adapter from todbot (thanks kurt ^^) and the WiiChuck library from Tim Hirzel - Data [...]
Arduino to 3D Studio Max from melka on Vimeo. Wii’s Nunchuck controller isn’t limited to gaming only. This guy found its new use. With the help of Arduino, Wiichuck library and other useful tools he managed it to work with 3D Studio Max. Man, is the Wii nunchuck ever versatile or what. This unique gaming peripheral has been hacked to perform motion capture on 3D Studio Max as long as it is hooked up to an Arduino which feeds MIDI data to a computer running Ableton Live (another MIDI application). Ableton Live in turn will feed that data to 3D Studio Max through MIDI Yoke. This is pretty interesting - is there nothing that Wii controls...
By passing Nunchuck data to a PC via an Arduino, Melka figured out a way to convert the accelerometer output into a MIDI stream that can be read directly by 3D Studio Maxs motion capture engine: Heres my setup under windows : Arduino using a WiiChuck adapter from todbot (thanks kurt ^^) and the WiiChuck library from Tim HirzelData sent to Processing via serial connection and translated to MIDI CC messages...
arduino to 3D Studio Max from melka on Vimeo . It's true! Now you can have your Wii and use Studio Max too! Fusing work and play, this hack uses Processing, Midi Yoke, Ableton Live and the 3D Studio Max Motion Capture Controller to transmit movement from the WiiChuck to 3D Studio Max via MIDI. Work will never be the same again... Via Make ...
