A fabulous show! Barry is a true giant of the comedy world a man with such a long and distinguished pedigree having written for so many greats that it was sheer joy to sit and listen to him, to top it all he even read out one of my questions. My ...

This evening my wife and I are going to see Barry Cryer at the Victoria Theatre in Halifax, and I'm really looking forward to it. It's been a really long week. Barry is one of my favourite comedians for more than three dozen years, he's been making me laugh both on telly and more so on the radio. One of the funniest things was on Historical Headlines on I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue...

BARRY CRYER doesn't regard himself as a comedian but you've been living under a stone for the past 50 years if you haven't laughed at one of his jokes. He may be most familiar as a panellist on such Radio 4 shows as I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue - which he's starred in since 1972 - but his career has come mostly from penning comic material for other people.

... Dawkins will be there, of course, but the more loveable talents of Dara O'Briain, Al Murray, Barry Cryer, Richard Herring, Ben Goldacre, Chris Addison, Mark Steele...and, well, just about everyone else you've ever heard of with a rationalist bent (Spinoza and Descartes send their apologies). Surely the best line-up since the queue to board Noah's Ark? The show's on at the HMV Apollo...

... with the "extra" minute. It all struck me as vaguely moronic (although the choice of Barry Cryer speaking for a minute was, paradoxically, rather a good one -- he saved the programme) but, more importantly, it missed the point. The BBC can start programmes and end them whenever they wish, but why can't the programme listings be accurate? There's no law saying that programmes...

ROY Hudd and Barry Cryer are men who should be knights of the realm for their services to comedy. The only thing wrong with Hudd's book is the silly title, A Fart In A Colander (Michael O'Mara, £18.99).

... available for photos, who better than Simon Cowell. Well, to be honest, I'd say Bruce Forsyth, or Barry Cryer, James May, Nemone, Liz Kershaw; possibly Tony Dortie? Quite a few people would be better than Simon Cowell, the sort of honking show-off who would destroy any event by attempting to recast it in his own image. I'm not sure, though, if having someone who turned out to not...

... a Matt cartoon . Other memorable moments included a simply hilarious speech by the old gag master Barry Cryer. Madness singer Suggs throwing Ollie Preston’s rather too heavy looking pen into the crowd after a mock auction, and Martin Rowson’s annual rant about the need to find young new cartooning talent so that we can break their fingers. Black tie events are a rarity for most cartoonists,...
