MANHATTAN, Kan. | Bill Snyder says he is “a phone call or two” away from finishing his recruiting class for the 2010 season. That’s a statement the Kansas State football coach didn’t expect to make with more than two months to go before national signing day.

by Terrance Harris Filed under: Kansas State , Big 12 Somewhere in the privacy of his ow n home, 70-year-old Kansas State coach Bill Snyder is enjoying this and laughing at those who quietly thought the energy was gone to resurrect the Wildcats. But as we've suspected for years, the private Snyder is different from the public guy. So it should be no surprise Snyder seems...

From 810 WHB : “I think that when you fail to tackle him, it helps him out quite a bit,” Snyder said. “I thought Dezmon Briscoe was the best receiver in the Big 12 until I saw Alexander play today.” That's from the living legend himself.

People had doubts when Bill Snyder came back to K-State at 69 years old. Jeff Martin was one of them, but he's seen the light.

He's been a strong candidate for Big 12 Coach of the Year all season, but now that Bill Snyder has Kansas State one win away from bowl eligibility and possibly a North division title, he's beginning to be mentioned in the national race as well. In his first season back, at the age of 70, he has led a K-State squad comprised of 12 first-year starters to a 5-2 record in its last seven games...

I'm pleased to report the Mailbag audience met last week's proposed Mandel Plan with overwhelming approval. In embracing a more modest and, most importantly, more realistic model for improving college football's postseason, Mailbag readers have proven yet again to be more informed and more reasoned than ... well, their neighbors and co-workers. That said, several of you offered suggestions for various...

MANHATTAN, Kan. | Maybe this was all inevitable, Kansas State’s emergence as the only team capable of seizing control of the embarrassingly mediocre Big 12 North. In hindsight, there is little reason to be surprised that Bill Snyder would squeeze more out of his collection of two- and three-star recruits than would Mark Mangino, Gary Pinkel, Bo Pelini, Dan Hawkins and Paul Rhoads....

MANHATTAN, Kan. | Bill Snyder can’t relate to his players through Twitter or rap music, and at 70 he isn’t likely to learn how anytime soon. But at this point, it wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense for him to adapt his old coaching ways to the present times. They seem to be holding up just fine.

A team with Grant Gregory as its quarterback gave Oklahoma (in Norman) a greater challenge than any team led by Chase Daniel or Todd Reesing has the past three years. How does that happen? No team from the Big 12 North plays South teams closer than Kansas State. And while I bow on the altar of everything Bill Snyder, it wasn't just him. Ron Prince was 2-0 against Texas, one of which...

... Points to him here. • He was an "unremarkable" assistant when compared to Bill Snyder's remaining staff, most notably Bob and Mike Stoops, Jim Leavitt, Brent Venables, Brent Bielema and Bob Cope. • He was an offensive line coach at Oklahoma under Bob Stoops. • Later on under Stoops, he pretty much just used Mike Leach's playbook when he took over the offensive...

Bo Pelini, the architect of an "asshole" blast on Bill Snyder a few years ago, and his brother put on a nice post game meltdown , according to a Nebraska newspaper. Carl Pelini marched off the field, advanced a few steps into the dark tunnel. Then he turned back toward the euphoric Texas celebration at midfield. His emotions burst. “You should be ashamed to accept that...
