In a vacuum, signing Henry Blanco for one year and $1.5 million is a strong move. This is a solid defensive catcher with a decent bat. The cost is fair for a backup catcher of his caliber. However, with all signs continuing to point to a Mets / Bengie Molina two year, ~$14 million marriage, the contract makes little sense.
