Eastern League aces Brian Matusz and Madison Bumgarner approach pitching quite differently in terms of their repertoires, but both dominated the Double-A league en route to the majors. Which method will work better down the line?

Brad Bergesen is the most prepared for initial success and that Chris Tillman and Brian Matusz have the greatest long-term potential, and anything more intricate than that borders on wishcasting and guesswork.

... to come together. This team is getting younger, and it's getting better. Chris Tillman (21). Brian Matusz (22). Brad Bergesen (23). Adam Jones (23). Matt Wieters (23). Felix Pie (24). Nick Markakis (25). Nolan Reimold (25). That's a hell of a core, and that doesn't even take into account the young guys still in the minors. There could be injuries, there could be busts, but that is...

For over three years people on this blog have complained that the Orioles have lacked a true ace for years. At some point two seasons ago, many believed that Jeremy Guthrie might be the closest this team has had since the migration of Moose and were rebuffed by a subpar performance this passed season. The reality is this team has two, maybe three, aces in the making in Chris Tillman and Brian...

... when a younger arm steps forward. The main candidates, besides Guthrie, to start opening day are Brian Matusz and Brad Bergersen> I don't think either are ready, not would the O's feel the need to rush them. Provided that Guthrie is healthy and the O's do not acquire a free agent starter, I believe Guthrie will get the call on to start the season. 3. Speaking of the youngsters,...

... office. I think maybe our young talent is actually good. I mean, I hear it all the time and I see Brian Matusz have some success and Chris Tillman show promise. But remember Adam Loewen ? Remember Matt Riley ? I think of Nolan Reimold and I'm thrilled with his success, but then I remember Larry Bigbie . The ghosts of our awful past just can't let me believe wholly in our current players....

... will go for the glove and rationalize that's the best thing for the successful development of Brian Matusz, Chris Tillman, Brad Bergesen and Jack Arrieta. Don't know that I agree. Some posters here have rightly pointed out that the connection between pitching and winning in the DH era is not quite as strong as it was in the past, as evidenced by the fact that only four of the playoff...
