Iceland's meltdown

ONE year ago Iceland's Prime Minister Geir Haarde interrupted the television schedules to make an extraordinary broadcast to his nation. As his voice struggled to contain his emotion, he asked his fellow citizens to go home, spend time with their loved ones and comfort their children. As he finished the broadcast he announced dramatically: "God save Iceland."
