LAWRENCE | Lost amid all of the attention paid to quarterback Todd Reesing’s struggle during Kansas’ four-game losing streak is the fact that Reesing has had little help from his running game. The Jayhawks haven’t rushed for 100 yards as a team since beating Iowa State on Oct. 10. The decline of the KU rushing attack can be directly traced to the injury running back Jake...
As nuts as this sounds, this hit may have been a minor turning point in the game. It pumped up the Tech defense, which stiffened after that. It also got the crowd even more involved since it came after Tech scored a touchdown. What a shot. Hopefully Sharp's OK.
strong>Key play: Missouri’s pass defense — with KU facing a third and 11 at the KU 1 — let running back JakeSharp open for a 17-yard gain. It was the big play of a 98-yard Kansas TD drive that gave the Jayhawks a 7-0 lead. Key stat: 47. The rushing yardage for MU quarterback Blaine Gabbert on four first-quarter...
... a former tackle, at guard and Brad Thorson, a former center, at right tackle. 4. Talk about JakeSharp and Toben Opurum. Are these two the core of the runing game? Those are the two guys, but it's hard to tell if Sharp is healthy or not. He has a leg injury that took away some of his 4.3 speed and at this point it seems Opurum is the better back. He gets yards after contact...
... Go? (CoachesAid.com) (HT: RockChalkTalk) Apparently this blogger hasn't seen KU's running game ( JakeSharp injury) or the woeful KU offensive line this season. Fire Mark Mangino? ... from Dezmon Briscoe, and the Kansas offense moved the ball much of the second half. Thank goodness JakeSharp dropped a pass sprinting downfield. Just in the nick of time, the Husker offense found some signs of life this afternoon. Niles Paul established himself as a deep threat that helped nudge the Kansas defense out of stacking the box. Most of the past month or so, defenses have...
It took him just 10 months, but Bill Snyder is back in the position where he retired from – as head coach of the best football program in the State of Kansas. Snyder's turnaround of Kansas State has been nothing short of remarkable. Ron Prince's teams were soft in the middle, allowing JakeSharp to have a career game last year in Lawrence. Seeing how tougher Kansas State is last...
"They're a good offense," he said. "They have great skill. They have a great quarterback who can beat you running or throwing. They have a couple of the better receivers we've see all year. They're good at running back. (Jake) Sharp is a good running back. They just have a lot of skill and they can make plays. They have a lot of guys on the field that can make plays, so you have to be...
... weekend, Briscoe was the only real factor, as he hauled in nine balls for 110 yards and a score. JakeSharp (333 yards) and Toben Opurum (491 yards) pace the ground game, which is averaging 136.2 ypg, and they have totaled 12 rushing touchdowns.
Knowing Kansas running back JakeSharp, it wasn't at all surprising to learn on Sunday night from KU coach Mark Mangino that Sharp has not been playing at full strength since returning from injury last weekend against Colorado.
... Opurum leads Kansas with 480 yards and eight touchdowns, and he has seen plenty of carries since JakeSharp has been slowed by injury. Sharp has been back in action and actually caught a 56-yard pass last weekend, so expect him and Opurum to rotate reps in the backfield.
