Cancer couldn't slow Independence firefighter

When Jeff Rennekamp was diagnosed with bone cancer a dozen years ago, the Independence native kept his zest for life and sense of humor. When his cancer kept him from firefighting, he went to classes at NKU, then worked at St. Elizabeth Edgewood, "the only one-legged nurse there." He was 36.
