Velvet Underground members reuniting at NY library

... seniors through the NYPL website. The original Velvet Underground lineup included Reed, Tucker, John Cale, Sterling Morrison and vocalist Nico. The group's debut album, often referred to as "the banana album" from its distinctive pop art cover, was produced by Andy Warhol and includes rock and roll classics like "Heroin" and "Sunday Morning." One for the Glaswegians

So here I am, watching the Culture Show tonight, looking out for the John Cale episode, when there's a feature about the new Transport Museum being built on Clydeside, and there's all these punters walking around with white hard hats with the word "BAM" printed on them..... did nobody tell them'?

Culture Show does pubs - tonight

... Sutton on the melodeon. Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy has written and performs a special poem - John Barleycorn - for this pub-themed Culture Show. It's both a lament for and a celebration of the pub, once a cornerstone of British cultural life. There's also a rare TV interview with John Cale. He talks about his life in music and the recent performance of his most celebrated...

A Bit of Culture at the Vulcan

The Vulcan is set to feature on the BBC's Culture Show at 7pm this Thursday. The team decided it was the perfect backdrop for their interview with Welsh musician John Cale of The Velvet Underground fame. Look out for some familiar faces in the background! And to get you in the mood, here is John himself singing Hallelujah.

Velvet Underground Members Reunite for Appearance at the New York Public Library; Doug Yule Replaces John Cale Due to Excessive Late Fees

True to form, The Velvet Underground decided to get their reunion on way before any other so-called fringe band thought it was hip and cool and profitable. In 1992, the seminal group's original lineup of Lou “Fussy Fanny” Reed, John “Artsy Fartsy” Cale, Sterling “Chuckle Butt” Morrison, and Maureen “What Up, Guys!” Tucker joined forces once...

Velvet Underground Members To Share Stage At New York Public Library | Billboard.com :p. I approve of the Doug Yule version getting back together, but I really would have liked to have seen the John Cale version.

Jeff Buckley - Grace (1994)

... I've heard as he puts such emotion in to the lyrics like the original and other covers such as John Cale's can't do. The music on the album isn't really amazing but thats not the point, it could be the best music in the world and still be overshadowed by these vocals, Buckley is that good.

Reconnection in Old North, and a Suggestion for McEagle

Days that came, years again Came in here once again -- John Cale, "Big White Cloud" One of the highlights of this gloomy week has been a look at one of the north side's biggest development stories: the removal of the failed pedestrian mall on 14th Street in Old North. As part of the $35 million Crown Square project, the city has removed the street closures and is working on...

Book Notes - Lydia Millet ("Love in Infant Monkeys")

... hunting clothes if she wasn't actually hunting anymore. I'd pick "Pablo Picasso," maybe the John Cale version. Pablo Picasso never got called an asshole. The second story, one of my two favorites in the collection, is "Girl and Giraffe," about George Adamson, of Born Free fame, and two of the lions he raised, a brother and sister. One of them, the brother, stays half-tame and lives...
