People in Karamoja region should take charge of their security instead of solely depending on the UPDF, a bishop has appealed. Bishop Joseph Abura of karamoja diocese last Friday said: "The community wants the UPDF to guard their families but the best security is by the people themselves. They should not pick firearms but voices, whistles, spears to curb internal insecurity."...

Two weeks ago, the news pages relayed an unprecedentedly unusual piece of good news from Karamoja. It was news of a report from the National Livestock Census report that cited Karamoja region as having the highest numbers of livestock, (cattle, goats and camels) in the whole of Uganda.

An organization that predicts famines says it expects a reduction in the number of Ugandans facing extreme hunger. (..) He [Narman Ojwe, the resident district commissioner of Moroto District in Karamoja] praised the World Food Program (WFP) for feeding the people in the region. “They distribute the food according to the number of people in a household.”
