Marx is thorough

It has been sitting on my bookshelf for 30+ years. Because of the economic crisis (not yet over), I finally got around to reading Part One of Capital by Karl Marx. It took me many hours. It demands the slow, deep thinking mode. The thoroughness of Marx is very impressive. I think I now understand what an everyday commonplace commodity is and so I see the world in a different way....

NDP-speaker and labor leader sounds like a communist to me

... believe in. They don’t have the same values as us, sisters and brothers.” This is pure Marxist wealth redistribution and class warfare fundamentalist theology. He sounds like a bad combination of Karl Marx, Che Guevara, and Hugo Chavez, with the modern twist of Van Jones, poorly served up in an attempt at aping Reverend Jeremiah Wright at one of his cult meetings....

From the Man Who Gave Us Economics in One Lesson

Marxism in One Minute By Henry Hazlitt The whole gospel of Karl Marx can be summed up in a single sentence: Hate the man who is better off than you are. Never under any circumstances admit that his success...

[khabor.com] Terrorist/ Siraj Sikder

M r. Asgar, by American standard, Siraj Sikder was a terrorist. On Karl Marx's birthday in 1970, he attacked American Information Center with bombs and grenades. He was interested in the violent overthrow of the government by any means necessary to impose the Chinese model of communism by hook or by crook. He wanted to nationalize everything. He opposed the Awami League's liberation manifesto...

... of water. "The 2005 Album From Momus" was recorded in my apartment on the Stalin-esque Karl-Marx-Allee between April and July 2004 and provisionally entitled The Artist Overwhelmed By The Grandeur Of Ancient Ruins, a title from Henry Fuseli, the early Romantic painter of irrational nightmares. I was 44, and I'd moved to Berlin the year before after a somewhat nomadic three...

‘Left, Right & Center’: America the Ungovernable?

On this Black Friday edition of “Left, Right & Center”, regulars Robert Scheer, Tony Blankley, Matt Miller and Arianna Huffington get philosophical, trotting out the likes of Karl Marx and Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel to get a read on the timely and fundamental question of whether it’s truly possible to govern of, for and by the people in the United States. READ...

... based on socialist concepts. ( Washington Examiner ) Given the chance to fulfill the dream of Karl Marx of an international socialist revolution leading to a world government, Browner's response to the Global Warming hoax being brought to light is predictable: Obama administration climate czar Carol Browner on Wednesday rejected claims that e-mails stolen from a British university...

Faith schools: welcome to Hizb ut Tahrir Junior High

Of course, cynics will take one look at the political composition of the average inner city National Union of Teachers branch and argue that we are as near as dammit there already. And what of the omnipresent...

Central Banks of the World: Unite!

Karl Marx would be pleased…well, maybe not. In any event, the world’s Central Banks are tired of the weak Dollar, and are separately taking matters into their own hands. [Before I continue, I should probably acknowledge the inherent dangers of lumping every Central Bank together under one umbrella. Still, given the current market environment, and [...]

Gosh, all because the [...]

Name, shame, blame the bankers, if you like. But they're the wrong target | Simon Jenkins

... what they pay themselves to do, make money. They are performing what economists from Adam Smith to Karl Marx regarded as capitalism's sacred ritual, profiting by rigging markets and shedding risk. Like all professions, their first responsibility is to their peer group and their second to their shareholders. It is not their job to run the country, only sometimes to ruin it. The banking...
