Royals unravel against Saints during 2nd half

(By Keith Cannon, Special Correspondent) Neither team could shoot straight when Limestone and Queens got together for their Conference Carolinas men's basketball game Tuesday night at Ovens Gym. But the visiting Saints got the "A" for effort and a 77-70 victory with a dominating second-half rebounding performance which erased an eight-point halftime lead by the Royals.

49ers' season disappears amid fog, penalty kicks

UNC Wilmington's Daniel Roberts scored a tying goal with less than 10 minutes left and the Seahawks went on to take a 4-1 penalty kicks victory. Owens wins World of Outlaws finals

(By Keith Cannon, Special Correspondent) Jimmy Owens took the checkered flag and the victory in the Late Models main event at the World of Outlaws World Finals Saturday night at The Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway. But points leader Josh Richards won the race he needed to win, too, edging out veteran Steve Francis for the 2009 Late Models points championship.

Vikings edge Mavericks, take lead in I-Meck 4A

(By Keith Cannon, Special Correspondent) The boys' soccer rivalry between No.14-ranked North Mecklenburg and No.13 Mallard Creek couldn't be much closer this season. Sophomore defender John Pouliot's goal with 2 minutes, 28 seconds left gave North Meck a 1-0 victory Monday night at Mallard Creek. The win avenged a 1-0 overtime loss to the Mavericks at North Meck.
