... , Mike Huckabee , the Democratic convention and Sarah Palin ; there was an insane plot to dragoon Mark Steyn into court for the crime of having an opinion; I. F. Stone turned out to be a commie spy like we'd suspected all along; Chris Dodd still hasn't released his mortgage paperwork ; and I barely survived an attempt to watch Al Gore's Live Earth concert . And so much more . . . So a hearty...

Last night I linked to an account by Weekly Standard reporter John McCormack. It seems McCormack was in New York reporting on the special election there. He asked some pointed questions of the liberal Republican congressional candidate Dede Scozzafava. Incredibly, Scozzafava's campaign called the cops on him in response. Overnight, I recieved this response from Matt Burns, spokesman for the Scozzafava...

Politico : That’s true even though the motivations of the White House are clear: Fire up a liberal base disillusioned with Obama by attacking the hated Fox. Try to keep a critical news outlet off-balance. Raise doubts about future Fox stories. But most of all, get other journalists to think twice before following the network’s stories in their own coverage. "We're doing what we think...

Sen. Grassley says that Democrats could gain some Republican support if a health care bill were to address tort reform and allow consumers to purchase insurance across state lines, provided the final bill doesn't contain mandates or a public option. That's very unlikely to happen, and I don't know if those few concessions would result in a piece of legislation that isn't bad on the whole. However,...

I was at gas station yesterday and saw the Washington Post's had a big front page story -- " In Today's Viral World, Who Keeps a Civil Tongue? " Not a bad idea for a story in theory, but given that the article was accompanied by photos of, among others, Father Coughlin* and Glenn Beck -- my immediate thought was, "What do you want to bet that story is wildly unbalanced and unfair to...

Asked about the Nobel prize by CNN's Ed Henry, Rahm Emmanuel said "It's clear Oslo beats Copenhagen any day of the week." The economy may be the worst since the Great Depression, the situation in Afghanistan rapidly deteriorating, and a pyschotic regime in Iran on the brink of acquiring nuclear weapons -- but thank goodness the administration's self-regard is holding up.
