City Council Members Bought and Paid for On Fahey Street Vote. A Conflict of Interest? – Patrick McPherson Could it be possible that the vote on renaming Weber Street to Fahey Street between 10th Street and 17th Street is about more than just honoring former Mayor Mike Fahey only 150 days after he left office? Could it be possible that it is about more than just the...

Believe it or not there is an effort afoot to name a portion of Webster Street between the Qwest Center and Creighton University after former Mayor Fahey. The effort is being promoted by Father Schlegel of Creighton University among others and likely will be introduced as a resolution before the Omaha City Council next week with a public hearing the following week. THIS IS A BAD IDEA. Why? Because...

A native son returned to Kansas City last week to tout the redevelopment that's transformed downtown Omaha, Neb., giving much of the credit to an assertive philanthropic culture there. While metro Omaha has less than half the population of the Kansas City area, its private donor community is major league when it comes to money for big civic projects, said Mike Fahey, who recently completed...

For many reasons, naming a street or any other government owned property after former Mayor Fahey, or former Mayor Daub, or any former living mayor or office holder is a bad idea without an objective, rational and fair process. In the case of Mike Fahey, he has barely been out of office for 120 days. He continues to be involved in Omaha politics, Democrat politics and many other...

Which is why, ultimately, it's probably a good thing for everyone that Kotaku 's editor Mike Fahey has written up his story of his EverQuest addiction -- the origin, the escalation, and the recovery of sorts. Mike describes how the death of his relationship led to him escaping into the video game that increasingly was preferrable to his normal life -- which, in turn,...
