R. Rice facing tough Bengals run D

The Ravens visit Cincinnati in Week 9, and Baltimore RB Ray Rice will have his work cut out for him against the league's fifth-rank run defense. The Bengals allow just 88 yards a game on the ground and have given up just three rushing scores this season. Rice did total 117 yards (69 rushing, 48 receiving) and caught a touchdown in their Week 5 meeting.

Rice nets 108 yards and rushing TD

Baltimore RB Ray Rice rushed 23 times for 84 yards and a touchdown during a Week 8 win over the previously unbeaten Denver Broncos. Rice laughed in the face of Denver's No. 3-ranked rush defense coming into the game. Rice scored in the 4th quarter on a late 7-yard TD run. Rice added five catches for 24 more yards.

RB on Bengals 'D': They're stout'

No praise is as good as that which comes from your opponents. The Ravens were impressed with the Bengals defense. "They're stout," said Ravens running back Ray Rice. "They play the game the way it's supposed to be played."

My Week 9 NFL picks so far

... 7 @ Bengals 17: As suspected, a tight game. Both teams did well through the air, but ultimately Ray Rice got just 12 carries for less than 50 yds while Cedric Benson put 117 yds up on 34 carries. 2-1. Texans 17 @ Colts 20: This went down to the wire, with the Texans missing a potentially game tieing field goal as time expired. Both QB's produced a little over 300 yds. 3-1. Chiefs 21 @ Jaguars...

2nd Half Open Thread: Baltimore Ravens (4-3) 0 - Cincinnati Bengals (5-2) 17

... 3.0 yards per atempt. The Ravens have 9 rushes for 17 yards (1.9/carry), and "dangerous" Ray Rice has only 10 yards on 2.5 yards per carry. Good things happened, good things need to keep on happening. 17 points is great, but this team needs to NOT let up. Toward the end of the first half, the offense suffered from bad playcalling (broken screen) and bad play (low snap on a 3rd...

What to make of Week 8-Fantasy Football Talk

... and could looking to reignite his fantasy value in a Chiefs uniform. Stay tuned for this one. Rice is the man in Baltimore… There is no longer any debate, discussion over. While many teams in the NFL embrace the running back by committee formula, the Ravens no longer appear to be a believer in that theory. Over the past several weeks there were tell-tale signs indicating that second...

Fantasy Forecast: Week 9

... down running attack, Joe should be poised to have a big day offensively. Prediction: 250 yds, 2 TD Ray Rice, RB (Week 8: 84 yds Rush, 24 yds Rec, 1 TD) When Ray Rice was drafted, the Ravens envisioned him to be more or less what he was in college; a straight ahead runner with good explosiveness between the tackles. What they got was a whole other animal all together. Ray Rice...

Ravens Mid-Season Report Card

... JS - B+ Much better than expected. Still have much to accomplish however. The dangerous tandem of Ray Rice and Joe Flacco has other teams quaking in their boots. GW – B+ Ranks as one of the best offenses in team history. QUARTERBACK: MJ - A Joe Flacco continues to develop at a rapid rate. His low key demeanor is a perfect fit for the Baltimore crowd and his laser right arm will keep this...

CIN Bengals - BAL Ravens

... the Broncos. They'll be able to contain the run pretty well - they rank eighth against it - but Ray Rice has proven that he can break one at any moment. Once concern for Baltimore is its secondary. The defensive backfield played very well last week, but that was against Kyle Orton and his girly arm. Palmer can actually get the ball downfield, as the Ravens saw first-hand. This will be the...

Fantasy Football 2009: Week Nine

... Ravens: After an embarrassing home loss to the Bengals, the Ravens will be looking for revenge. Ray Rice has become Mr Everything for the Ravens now and he is very close to being matchup proof every week. I expect big numbers this Sunday. Todd Heap caught 7 passes the last time these two hooked up. Bengals: In their previous matchup, Cedric Benson ran all over the Baltimore defense. Don't...
