... At the very least, he could replace a guy like Quintero, who's never hit nearly as well. Thoughts? Richard Justice steals one of our ideas, asking for input on what to do with the Astros budget. Later, Brian McTaggart does the same exact thing here. Is this a sign of lazy writing, a slow winter or stealing the great ideas of the gifted writers here at TCB. I'll let you decide... McTaggart...

From the comments on Richard Justice's blog post on the Astros tonight: Convince [Carlos] Lee to waive his no trade and package him with [Kaz] Matsui to the Redsox for Josh Beckett . Lee can play LF for a few years or DH. Big Papi is on the decline and I think the Sox realize that. Matsui is a second baseman but he can play short and they need a a SS at the moment.

Jeff Blair wrote Thursday that the Jays will offer arbitration, and it would be a surprise if they turned down the chance to obtain picks for the Type A free agent.
