... K/BB rates in 2009 and show why fantasy owners should keep a close eye on them heading into 2010. Shawn Kelley [SEA] 4.56 K/BB Kelley is looking more and more like one of those hidden gems found during the amature draft. Pitching out of Austin Peay State University, the Mariners selected Kelley in the 13 th round in 2007. A quick glance at his college numbers would suggest...

... and/or Phil Hughes , however. So we now know the Mariners didn't want to trade Brandon Morrow and Shawn Kelley for Jackson, but what's the take from the other side ? Mariners Declined Jackson for Morrow, Kelley The source is Jon Heyman's tweet: "Hearing Tigers sought young pitchers Brandon Morrow and Shawn Kelley for Jackson. Mariners apparently said no." If this is accurate, Dombrowski was certainly asking for a lot. It's not really surprising the Mariners declined.

... source for the story. Two of the names suggested by Rosenthal and Morosi are Brandon Morrow and Shawn Kelley . When healthy, Morrow has a great arm. But staying healthy has been a problem for him. This season, he pitched in only 26 games for Seattle, sitting down with forearm and shoulder injuries. The Mariners have also tried to figure out what role best suits Morrow. He throws hard...

... whose salary will rise from $2.2 million in arbitration. Mariners right-handers Brandon Morrow and Shawn Kelley both fit that description, and are the types of hard throwers favored by Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski. Jackson’s price tag is obviously much higher now than it was last season, but he can only command so much as he’s only under team control for two more seasons....

You may look at the Seattle Mariners roster and think that, for the most part, they’ve got their 2010 bullpen in place. David Aardsma is coming off his best season in which he was one of the top closers in baseball, Mark Lowe continued to improve and Sean White resurfaced as a solid setup guy. If you plan on those three coming back and progress from Shawn Kelley, there aren’t many spots...
