A 'dark-rumped' petrel was found in near gale force NNW winds in St Ives Bay (Cornwall) just after noon and got pushed back into the bay. It was possibly a Swinhoe's Storm Petrel. A single Leach's Petrel was also seen ( Royston Wilkins )

Nice light on the water as a big bank of dark clouds passes over. I've just noticed that the surfers vans and cars are arriving and the waves are looking larger as the swell from last night arrives. Just looked at the St Ives webcam and it looks like the waves are getting blown out over on the North Coast. The fishing boat Emma Louise is still out there - they really do earn their money !
