... late 20s and early 30s, which is nothing uncommon for a left-handed starter. In comparison, Jeff Suppan 's career FIP is 4.85. There has really been no point in which Suppan has ever been as effective as Wolf. Wolf has varied a lot as a pitcher throughout his career. He's averaged about 7 strikeouts to 3 walks per nine innings in his career, but that rate has jumped around-he's gone...

The Wolf rumor is gaining steam and the best part of it so far is that Doug Melvin has said that the team doesn't want to get stuck with another Suppan-esque contract, meaning the Brewers are hoping to offer Wolf a two-year deal. Problem is, Tom H. says it's going to take a three-year deal to sign Wolf. Wolf made $5 million last season, so assume it's going to take more than that each of the...

... says this guy , pointing out Wolf's 2009 BAPIP was .256 There are quite a few comparisons to the Suppan deal and how that seemed good at the time as well as plenty of questions about whether Wolf's 2008 stats or 2009 stats are more indicative of his ability. Tom H. posted earlier that he's hearing that it will take a three-year deal to get it done and everything I've read has said the same....

And this is just a list of those players who are (probably) tradeable. Teams can forget about trading those with the most outlandish contracts: Alfonso Soriano , Barry Zito , Carlos Lee , Todd Helton , and Vernon Wells...

... eater. The Cards really only have 3 rotation slots filled currently. They must have another Suppan/Lohse/Looper type that can eat up about 170 or so innings in the 4th or 5th slot. 2. The Cards have a handful of important players as free agents (Holliday, DeRosa, Piniero, Ankiel, Smoltz, etc.) whom do they bring back? Ankiel is good as gone. We now know that the Cards offered arbitration...

... sad but he is one of the better names on the market. I don’t know…it just reminds me of the Jeff Suppan signing. Wolf’s numbers overall are slightly better than Suppan’s were when he signed so I guess it could be worse than Wolf…I just don’t want to get into another long contract that was overpriced based on the lack of talent in the free agent pool and because the player had a surprisingly...
