(Event) Pop Life at the Tate

“Good business is the best art”, Andy Warhol once said. It's a sentiment that may well have formed an ill-advised strap line to Tate Modern’s much lauded Pop Life: Art in a Material World.

The Noughties: the journey from Mandella to Mandelson

... follow was the planned regeneration of the whole Greenwich peninsula. This contrasts with the Tate Modern just up river which was proved to be a spectacular success in re-using a defunct power station. I love it and have been many times. It opened in May 2000 but I didn’t go for a few rears for a self-imposed reason. White Teeth , Zadie Smith and No Logo , Naomi Klein Two different...

26.11.09 :: miroslaw balka's 'how it is' :: unnerving

I've just spent a few minutes inside the void of Miroslaw Balka's How It Is at Tate Modern . Physically massive and obviously a feat of engineering, the concept is deceptively simple - a big, black lined tank that you walk into. It's amazing how effectively the structure cuts out the light and even the few people ignoring the signs whose faces were illuminated by their mobile phone screens...

The Insider | Luis Venegas

... I love are Cy Twombly and Joan Miró, along with the Abstract Expressionists and Museums: London’s Tate Modern is a wonderful space, and their current exhibition, is great. I grew up with the Joan Miró Foundation on Barcelona’s Montjuïc. I saw my first exhibition there, featuring the Belgian comic book hero Tintin, when I was 4. Reading material: The list of magazines is endless. I...

Bill T. Jones / Keith Haring

Went to the Pop Life exhibition at Tate Modern today, which included a recreation of Keith Haring's Pop Shop , complete with awesome 80s rap soundtrack. The room included a tee-shirt with this visual on it: choreographer Bill T. Jones body painted by Haring. Pretty strong! (Photograph by Tseng Kwong Chi )

... in this struggle than the Swiss team of and Pierre de Meuron. Since the 2001 opening of their Tate Modern — a building that instantly became the emblem of London’s rise as an art world capital — they have designed more than half a dozen art museums, each one a provocative reworking of the conventional formula.Much of this work paid off.
