On November 22, the Museum of Modern Art will open “Tim Burton,” a retrospective for the man who, it goes without saying, has brought us some of the most fantastical movies of the last two decades, from Beetlejuice to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory . Rather than cobbling together a predictable slew of movie stills, the curators have assembled a sprawling show of films, photos,...

In a way, Burton knows vampires too, resurrecting Bela Lugosi — the definitive cinematic Count Dracula — in the Oscar-winning biopic "Ed Wood."...

Ugh! I'm sick of adverts telling us films like this are "by" Tim Burton. The film wasn't "by" Tim Burton, nor was it "from" Tim Burton, he funded it. He didn't write it, he didn't direct it, he just produced it and that usually involves funding it or adverts to make it more well known. It's not the first time a film has been misleading in telling us...

There have been many pretenders to the Pop art crown worn by Andy Warhol. Forget Damien Hirst or Jeff Koons. An unlikely contender has stepped forward to claim the throne. It is Tim Burton, the film director and animator whose darkly surreal vision has created modern fairy tales such as Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas and Beetlejuice.

When I saw that Coraline was directed by the same Director as The Nightmare Before Christmas, I instantly assumed that Tim Burton was involved, and after watching Coraline - I still thought that. Coraline is a very atmospheric, dark film, and it wouldn't have surprised me at all if Tim Burton had been involved - [...]

... of it. It’s hard to find favourite directors since it seems they always do a film you hate, Tim Burton and Edward Scissor hands, Luc Besson and Taxi, George Lucas and all the latest star wars films… But no ones perfect and I’d hate to think people were expecting all my films to be just as good as the last ones or just as bad for that matter…

SHE possesses a haunting voice that sounds like the noise you might expect the turning fairy in your jewellery box to make; and she has an enigmatic name that could make Tim Burton pen a film in her honour.

God, I love Terry Gilliam movies. If this one is outdone by "Tim Burton's" Alice in Wonderland , I'm sticking a dagger through my heart.

From the bristling fur of Fantastic Mr Fox to the rag dolls of the forthcoming Tim Burton-produced animation 9, it seems you can't move at the moment for animation with a homespun attitude.
