Tim Dierkes / MLB Rumors : Nationals Acquire Brian Bruney; Release Saul Rivera — 12:51pm: The Nationals confirmed the deal via a press release. They released Saul Rivera to make room for Bruney. Rivera, 32 today, posted a 6.10 ERA in 38.3 innings for the Nats this year. Releasing a man on his birthday...for shame!

Tim Dierkes / MLB Rumors : Gregg Zaun Agrees To Deal With Brewers — 1:33pm: ESPN's Buster Olney has the contract details: a $1.9MM base in 2010, and a $2.25MM club option for '11 with a $250K buyout. — 1:18pm: Zaun is close to a deal with the Brewers, according to MLB.com's Adam McCalvy.

Tim Dierkes / MLB Rumors : Mariners On Verge Of Signing Chone Figgins — 6:52pm: Larry LaRue of The News Tribune says the Mariners need to wait until at least Monday to finalize the deal. Why Monday, you ask? Because that's the deadline for free agents to accept arbitration, and they have to make sure Adrian Beltre declines before proceeding with Figgins.
