LET’S TRUST that the Tory Party has really changed, because in the past former-Plaid AM Oscar (Mohammad Asghar) has accused them of racism for denying him membership of that party, [...]

Even not counting the Dimblebeys, there are always two Tories on Question Time or Any Questions? , but usually a politician and a commentator. This week, however, Question Time will feature not only William Hague, but also, in Sir Richard Dannatt, a man who has already accepted a Tory peerage and would be a Minister in a Cameron Government. When last did two parliamentarians, or even...

Somehow I overlooked one of the most significant defections to the Conservatives in recent weeks. Welsh Assembly Member Mohammed Asghar has left Plaid Cymru and crossed the floor to the Conservatives. Asghar was the first minority ethnic member of the Assembly, elected in 2007. His defection gives the Conservatives 13 seats to Plaid’s 14, provides [...]

But, on a point of information, Tory Bear , Tim Montgomerie , Guido Fawkes , Iain Dale , Douglas Carswell et al, please advise ... I wonder is there anything in the Sarah Palin op-ed you would disagree with? ***...

Senior Tories including David Cameron himself now think an end-March election is likelier than not. I'm not so sure. I don't think today's PBR will play well with voters and I can't see Brown going to see The Queen early if Labour still trails in the polls. Nonetheless it's probably sensible for all Conservative candidates to plan for a 25th March polling day. Tim Montgomerie

Don't get carried away by the polls. If Labour hope to bounce back, they have to match the Tories in fresh thinking Talk of a revival continues, and Labour hearts flutter. Seven of November's 10 polls pointed to a hung parliament , and even Gordon Brown's personal ratings are up. Pollsters say these gains are driven by economic optimism – now at its highest since 1997. If that trend continues...

Or libertarians and conservatives. Daniel Hannan splits the difference: Set aside a couple of slightly recherché issues, such as drugs. On the biggies – school choice, Euroscepticism, tax cuts, welfare reform – we all agree. And the reason we agree...

Red Rag - Latest Poll from Populus has the Tories on 38 and Labour on 30. Tories below 40% again and Labour back into the 30's. This is about the fifth or sixth poll on the bounce showing the lead is narrowing slowly but surely. This next week in the biggest week in Browns political life.......over to you Mr Darling.....we are counting on you.

I’ve never been convinced that the Conservatives have already won the next general election, so much can happen between then and now and we’ve all been waiting so eagerly to hear what David Cameron might actually do. But I am surprised at how easily the Tories have wobbled over their opinion poll lead narrowing to eight [...]

UKIP have got themselves into a right pickle recently, poor things! It emerged last week that their new leader Lord Pearson a number of months ago made a somewhat controversial offer to the Conservative party. Pearson allegedly (The Times, 30 November, UKIP’s planned deal with Tories causes outrage in anti-Europe party) approached Lord Strathclyde, the [...]
