The Princess Royal enjoyed mixed fortune with two home-bred horses. On Saturday, her Dhu Loch, successful at Bredwardine two weeks before, failed to follow up at the Exmoor, but the next day her Willowpattern won a Maiden at Larkhill under Tom David. The first call on her phone after the race came from her daughter and the mare's trainer Zara Phillips, who was eventing in Ireland.

World Champion Zara Phillips is among a star-studded line-up of eventers at Tattersalls in Ireland this weekend. "It is extraordinary that an event in Ireland has reached a level where as many as eight Olympic medallists, who between them have won 18 olympic medals, would come to compete.
