Tucson AZ (SPX) Jul 24, 2008 - Phoenix early Tuesday finished its longest work shift of the mission. The lander stayed awake for 33 hours, completing tasks that included rasping and scraping by the robotic arm, in addition to atmosphere observations in coordination with simultaneous observations by NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.

Tucson AZ (SPX) Jul 24, 2008 - The latest activities of NASA's Phoenix Mars Lander have moved the mission closer to analyzing a sample of material, possibly icy soil, from a hard layer at the bottom of a shallow trench beside the lander.

The real estate company that built Rockefeller Center in New York some 70 years ago announced Wednesday that it has opened a Phoenix office at 2347 E. Camelback Road. Rockefeller Group Development Corp., which is based in New York City, is developing three projects in Chandler, two in Gilbert and an industrial commercial center in Tucson.

One year has passed since STMicroelectronics NV announced it would wind down operations at its 6-inch (150-mm) wafer fab in Carrollton, Texas, its 8-inch (200-mm) fab in Phoenix, Arizona, and its back-end packaging and test facility in Ain Sebaa, Morocco. While ST confirmed that negotiations are underway regarding the sale of the Phoenix fab, no word was uttered on the fate of the two others.
