BVL resident charged in fatal beating

A Buenaventura Lakes man was arrested Friday on charges including second-degree murder after Osceola deputies said he beat a man to death. Angelo Nieves, 43, punched Gary Stroup, 54, of Campbell City in the head and face a week ago after finding him at Nieves' ex-girlfriend's Kissimmee-area home, investigators said. Stroup died Friday. Tax rate will hold steady if budget is approved

Grandmother is out $17,000, police say

Police have issued an arrest warrant for a woman they say bilked her grandmother out of nearly $17,000 by opening credit cards in the grandmother's name. Betty J. 7,000 homes, retail approved along Lake Toho

County commissioners voted 4-1 Monday night to approve a development along the east shore of Lake Tohopekaliga that would include as many as 7,000 homes and 507,000 square feet of retail space. Bulk trash pickups will only be once a week

-Starting Aug. 4, the city's sanitation division will provide bulk collection services once a week. The change does not apply to garbage or yard-waste collection services. The bulk service is for large items such as furniture, appliances and large tree trimmings and branches.
