Don’t expect House Democrats to deliver on the governor’s wish list in the next two days. Gov. Rod Blagojevich called a special session of the General Assembly for Wednesday and Thursday to urge House members to approve a series of revenue-generating ideas, combined with a major capital plan, to help plug a hole in the state operating budget. If they don't, he said he’ll have to cut $1.5 billion from...

The legislature waited a full month to send to the governor unanimously approved ethics reforms contained in HB 824 . They sent it to his desk June 30, starting the 60-day clock for the governor to amend it, veto it or sign it before it automatically becomes law. That gives Gov. Rod Blagojevich until August 29, and he’s vowed to “improve” the measure but has not indicated what those changes might be...

You can tell by the marks the pests make when they leave the trees. Today, we look at what the nefarious Rod Blagojevich has planned for his nemesis State Rep. Jack Franks. Here is what a much more skillful observer than I has discovered: “In a stunning...

Perhaps preoccupied with his own problems, Gov. Rod Blagojevich of Illinois has neglected the stack of clemency petitions overflowing his IN basket. The day before a long holiday weekend is always a good day to grant pardons. The inevitable "soft on crime" criticism that follows from giving someone a break is softened when voters are too busy watching things explode to pay much attention to the news....

Rod Blagojevich threw cold water on the notion that he is a sociopath today, by lashing out like a deranged lunatic at reporters. Blagojevich's berserker fit was peppered with the words "dishonest" and "stupid" in reference to reporters. Reporters should be focused on high gas prices instead, Blagojevich said. Kudos to John Patterson at the Daily Herald for picking up the gauntlet. Here's how Patterson...
