With the recent reopening of the University of Texas Medical Branch's emergency room, some other changes have taken place. The UTMB Pediatric Urgent Care Clinic, which had been next to the emergency room, has relocated to 2027 61st St. in Galveston as an after-hours pediatric urgent care clinic.

The College of the Mainland will hold its 28th annual Moonlight Madness Fun Run/Walk on Aug. 14. Walkers and runners can participate in the event, which kicks off at 9 p.m. The three-mile course begins and ends at the college. Prizes will be awarded to the top five finishers overall, both male and female. Door prizes and T-shirts will be given away.

Jack Compton is going on the ride of his life next week. The 41-year-old plans on leaving his home in League City on Tuesday and pedaling his recumbent bike - which has three wheels and allows him to pedal in a reclined position - for 1,600 miles before arriving at the World Trade Center memorial in New York City on Sept. 11.
