Repairs to a city of Katy sewage treatment plant and water well damaged during Hurricane Ike are expected to be completed soon, officials said. Crews are now working on repairing a motor on the No. 5 water well located at 3300 Katy-Hockley Road, said the city’s director of public works Elaine Lutringer. Work is expected to last another few days.

A juvenile male will be charged with arson for breaking into and setting several small fires in a Katy-area Wal-Mart Supercenter just a few hours before Hurricane Ike made landfall, a Harris County Fire Marshall official said.

The Katy Police Department invites the community to its National Night Out event from 6-9 p.m. Oct. 7. The free event at Katy City Park, 5700 Franz Road, will feature music and entertainment, food, and activities for children including face painting and moonwalks.
