Holiday tree-lighting event to feature musical artist, ice skaters

One of the first holiday tree lighting events in the Houston area is scheduled for 6 p.m., Nov. 14 at the Polar Ice Center rink at The Galleria. There, a 55-foot tree, rising two floors and adorned with 100,000 lights and an assortment of other decorations, will kickoff the Christmas season as part of the annual Ice Spectacular Presented by Cadillac.

City to get park now that Katy Freeway is complete

Now that construction work on the Katy Freeway is complete in the area near Hilshire Village, city officials are working with the Texas Department of Transportation to convert the property at 1003 Wirt Road into a park.
