Hospitals see surge in births tied to hurricane Ike

Officials are ready for next hurricane

When Hurricane Ike swept into Montgomery County last September, it left the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in tatters, trees down, people scrambling for food, water and gas and in the dark for up to two weeks. One year later, the pavilion is open for business with expanded seating, most homes have been repaired and the power is up and running for area homes and businesses.

Montgomery County drops burn ban

With more rainfall in Montgomery County, Conroe has returned to voluntary water conservation, and Montgomery County dropped its burn ban. The Woodlands Joint Powers Agency, which oversees the 11 municipal utility districts in the community, said it would consider easing water restriction in the future, but that it encourages residents to adopt the twice weekly watering schedule.
