Motivators:a stellar cast including; Lea Thompson , Christopher McDonald , my fave bad boy Dean Winters , Rachel Taylor , and the much buzzed about newcomer-...

NEW YORK (Reuters) –A major new photography exhibit is built around the idea that the eyes are just as important as the ears for appreciating and understanding rock 'n' roll. The Brooklyn Museum's sprawling show "Who Shot Rock & Roll: A Photographic History, 1955 to the Present" opened on Friday as a study in the contrasts that run through the rock music subculture. Nearly 200 photographs,

It's possible that no band better defined the aesthetic, attitude, or ethic of Touch & Go's 25-plus-year history than the Jesus Lizard did. The label's 50/50 business model, first started by Factory Records in England, gave the underbelly of American music a creative vehicle it had never had before, with the backing of Chicago, America's closet cultural metropolis, to support the music on a local...

Pop culture can be as forbidding as it is inviting, particularly in areas that invite geeky obsession: The more devotion a genre or series or subculture inspires, the easier it is for the uninitiated to feel like they’re on the outside looking in. But geeks aren’t born; they’re made. And sometimes it only takes the right starting point to bring newbies into various intimidatingly...

I'm a big fan of Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie's work, and have written about them on this blog before. So I was really happy that they were willing to chat with me at the MCM Expo. I kept the discussion entry-level, as this was going up at Den of Geek, but it was nice to be able to get an overview of their work, and ask Kieron about his upcoming comic for Avatar - The Heat - for which I believe...

It was pretty good for an hour's work. But hchiu completely outdid himself on a similar task: Life-Sized Link , 831 pieces printed on 197 sheets of paper, cut, folded, and glued into a life-sized statue. OMG!! BTW, there's an entire subculture...
