The Wachowski brothers bought into a risky proposition by directing Warner Bros. live-action version of Speed Racer. I can think of more popular, more contemporary anime series to develop. Speed Racer always came across as stiff, and the Japanese-to-English transliteration made for some breathless speed-rapping. I'm guessing the impact of these trailers -- two at the headline link and one posted above...
