Today is 80’s Flashback Day at work. Yes, the Dame gives us flashback days. It’s a far cry from our old Cocktail Hour Every Hour events she used to hold. It’s sad, as not too many people here remember anything about the 80’s. I do. And I loved many, many things about the 80’s, especially “Ferris [...]

Our Summer of Death continues with the sad news that 80s film maker extraordinaire, John Hughes, has died at the age of 59. I think a little bit of my coming of age has died with him. No one captured the essence of the big-shouldered Reagan years as well. There’s little doubt in my mind that [...]

John Hughes passed away in Manhattan on Thursday August 6, 2009. The titan of teen angst movies passed away from a heart attack yesterday. Movies like The Breakfast Club , Pretty in Pink and Ferris Bueller's Day Off are some of my favorite '80s movies. I can still watch them and laugh my ass off! Tidbit: Hughes also penned the screenplay for Jennifer Lopez's Maid in Manhattan . First Michael Jackson,...

John Hughes, director of Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and other teen hits of the eighties passed. Born in the seventies, I'm a child of the eighties and so I'm familiar with his movies.
