At a news conference, held in front of the windows in her home that look exactly like the windows in the Wasilla Sports Complex (Palin's most dubious achievement as Wasilla mayor), Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin announced she will be resigning her duties in two weeks. Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell, the man who put the "lack" in "lackluster," will assume her duties at that time.

Palin made me break my internet boycott during vacation (Twitter doesn't count) and actually fire up the browser to see what the hell was happening in Alaska. The news stories were vague so I had to go to Thrillah from Wasillah's press conference to see what she was saying. ...

Quite a bit of speculation out there as to why, but Sarah Palin has announced she is resigning her governorship within the next few weeks. Speculation has swirled for weeks, perhaps months that Palin would not seek re-election in 2010 as she pursues a political career on the national stage. The former vice presidential candidate has long been rumored to be considering a run at the Republican presidential...

Sarah Palin resigning as governor of Alaska! What a news flash on a holiday weekend! The big question is: why would she do so , and it’s difficult to speculate as to her reasons. Sarah quoted General Douglas MacArthur, " We are not retreating, but advancing in another direction ." Does she plan to run for president in 2012, or has she just had it with the vengeance directed at her and her family ever...

The more I think about it, the more this theory that Sarah Palin is stepping down to run for President just doesn't fit. If she was going to do that, one would think it would be better to go out on a high note. And Governor Palin has not, to put it mildly, had a great few weeks. There was a Vanity Fair article that came out in which she was roundly dissed by McCain staffers; several e-mails were released...

via Firedoglake » Sanford Concedes Defeat. This is a true classic of American politics. It was rambling, disjointed and borderline incoherent. It’s up there with the ‘62 “You won’t have Richard Nixon to kick around anymore” speech.

Wow. Not many saw this coming. Not only is Alaska Governor Sarah Palin not running for reelection, she is resigning her post near the end of July . A surprising move to say the least. There is and will continue to be rampant speculation as to why Palin decided not to serve out her full first term. Here are some of the possible reasons: 1. She is gearing up her 2012 presidential run early. 2. She is...

What is the real story? Some of the chatter online today: 1) Vanity Fair uncovered more than it published; 2) She is digging in for 2012; 3) she is hoping to avoid potential criminal investigations.

I'm not a big fan of Sarah Palin. Regular readers, and people who know me, may well have gotten that idea already. I rejoiced when the campaign ended with Obama's victory-- less because I objected to the idea of a President McCain, but because I strongly objected to a Vice President Palin being one heartbeat away from the White House. So when she went back to serving as governor of Alaska, I was happy....
