A couple decades ago, a science fiction series ran on television called "V," where aliens who looked human arrived on Earth offering assistance and technology. As the show went on, we discovered the aliens were actually a race of reptiles intent on conquering Earth and using us for food. ABC has resurrected "V" this year with a very pointed political subtext::
