On Fox News Sunday when asked to “assess the Bush presidency” by Chris Wallace, John McCain asserted that “history will judge the president” and ran through a litany of talking points attempting to differentiate himself from the current administration. One area he was most insistent about was that he is a “maverick” who continues [...]

If you're worried about Obama hitting back hard enough, look underneath the table. These two ads were put up in Pennsylvania and Ohio (I think.), minus the usual press release announcement. "Original" is mentioned in the WaPo article, though not the relatively quiet way it was released. Here's a fact-check on "Pocket," which ratchets down the amount of money given to McCain by "Big Oil" to a mere $1.3...

Another very good spot from the Obama campaign (though I wish they had used this McSame soundbite), this time mocking McSame's cutesy little nickname. "The original Maverick, or just more of the same?" Listen, this is smart. Obama's campaign, and the candidate himself, have been very disciplined about tying McSame to Bush at every opportunity.

The latest Obama campaign ad, and this is a good one: That clip from Fox News is gold: The president and I agree on most issues. There's was a recent study that showed that I voted with the president over 90 percent of the time. Mavericky!

Bush's Third Term. It is pretty obvious, but it seems to have taken a while for the Obama campaign to get back to the narrative of John McCain as Bush's Third Term. This Obama ad is what we need: More of this please.

Num num num num: Personally, I would have found a way to put this picture in there, but maybe they are saving that for September and October: It is such a touching and intimate portrait. You can almost see their tire gauges standing at full attention.

Paris Hilton's stinging rebuke of McCain's "celebrity" ad -- all the more stinging because she expressed more coherence on energy policy in a few seconds than McCain has during the whole campaign -- has caused quite a stir. In under 2 days, the video has now racked up 4,317,326 views, the post over at Funny or Die has 1,468 comments and the McCain campaign felt compelled to respond to the very person...

Last week was all about John McCain’s campaign going on the offensive, launching negative ads, and trying to define Barack Obama by exploiting cultural insecurities. This week, apparently, is all about Obama turning the tables and going on the offensive himself. On Monday, the Obama campaign unveiled its first “contrast” ad of the general election, highlighting [...]

Perhaps you've seen the Texas Tea Party clowns running around Capitol Hill laughing, giggling, twittering and waving toy tire pressure gauges over their heads like a bunch of pre-teen girls. They're an embarrassment to their constituents. Instead of working with Democrats and sane Republicans to come up with a responsible plan for energy independence they are acting like they're being paid by the hour...

Senator Obama's New Commercial is so Full of it that he neglected to send it to the press before it was aired, And I don't Blame him. The spot is called Original and that it is, there is little relationship between his commercial and reality. Narrator: He’s the original maverick. Silent Super: Really? McCain: “The president and I agree on most issues. There was a recent study that showed that I voted...

I think Chris Bowers is absolutely right - Paris Hilton's response to John McCain's celebrity ad has turned the tide of this race to a certain extent. Actually it occurred at a confluence of events: Obama calling McCain and his minions "proud to be ignorant" about car maintenance and fuel efficiency; Obama running a response ad to McCain's O.M. Origina Maverick (ya hear?) ad: And then Paris pops up...
