McCain Ad: Clinton "Passed Over" (VIDEO)

In response to Barack Obama's VP announcement, John McCain's campaign has been reaching into old tv footage. First they released an ad featuring a clip of Joe Biden questioning Obama's experience at a debate. Now they have an ad saying Hillary Clinton was "passed over" for "speaking the truth" -- about Obama, of course. Watch:

Republican concern trolls bemoan Biden

As expected, Republicans didn't waste a moment before launching the full concern troll attack on Obama's selection of a running mate. No matter who was chosen, they would have professed concern that they know much better than Democrats who the Democratic nominees should have been. In this case the goal is to sow discord among Democrats by riling supporters of Hillary Clinton. Here's Rudy Giuliani...

Kristol's New-Found Feminism

Yes, that was a strange little blog post on Obama's alleged dissing of Hillary. Now, it makes more sense: A reader adds: That Bill Kristol quote on the DNC's glass ceiling really deserves its own award category. You can call...

McCain: Don't Forget About Disunity, Democrats. Disunity! -- Updated With Clinton Response

So let's get this straight. Joe Biden insinuates that Obama is unqualified. That he has a lot more learning to do. That he needs more substance and style. And Obama picks him. John McCain's new ad, designed to reinforce the spurn that Hillary Clinton supporters feel, claims that Obama rejected Clinton because she said the very same things about him. Huh? Now -- not saying that it's a bad ad. It's...

When Rats F**K, Apparently the Females Are On Top

The Rove team plays their next card: It is a silly, silly piece, as was the Bill Kristol post last night that Sullivan described as transparent, and James Joyner describes the above commercial and Kristol’s thinking as truly bizarre: By Kristol’s logic, Mike Huckabee should be McCain’s running mate. At the very least, he should be [...]

More on the Clinton Controversy (Sigh)

John McCain's new television ad suggests that Barack Obama didn't pick Hillary Clinton as his running mate because he couldn't handle her criticisms--i.e., "the turth hurt and he couldn't handle it." It's a dubious assertion, but the merits of the argument are, for all practical purposes, besides the point. This ad is designed to stoke the resentment of wavering Clinton voters and to make sure the...

Obama Passes Over Hillary Clinton With Snub Biden Pick

A big development this morning is the McCain campaign's release of a brilliant new ad buy hammering Barack Obama for passing over Hillary Clinton as running mate: NARRATOR: She won millions of votes. But isn't on his ticket. Why? For speaking the truth. On his plans: HILLARY CLINTON: "You never hear the specifics." NARRATOR: On the Rezko scandal: HILLARY CLINTON: "We still don't have a lot of answers...

Maybe John McCain Will Pick Hillary

McCain's latest ad... ...is a little pathetic . Hillary Clinton said horrible things about Obama! While she was running for president! And that's why she's not the VP pick! I hope somebody inside the McCain campaign will release the ad they would have run if Clinton had been the VP pick. But still, the courting of Clinton voters is in full effect now. I don't know if I was expecting it to be this...

Hillary Clinton's pro-forma denunciation of John McCain's ad.

There was no indication of whether her eye blinks spelled out "TORTURE" in Morse Code, though. We finally got a response from Hillary's people to this McCain ad : ...and it's certainly, um, well, a statement . The following is a statement released today by Hillary Clinton's Spokeswoman Kathleen Strand in response to the McCain campaign's new ad "Passed Over." "Hillary Clinton's support of Barack Obama...

Hillary Urges Unity

Senator Clinton held a press conference this morning after the New York Delegation's breakfast. She reiterated that she was at the convention to support Obama and that it was his convention. She wants a Democratic President so that Democratic policies can have a chance to reach fruition. "Electing John McCain would be a mistake for our country. That is the overriding reality. Anyone who voted for me...

McCain To Obama: Why Not Hillary ?

This is perhaps the most blatant indication to date that the McCain campaign is going to make a play for disaffected Hillary supporters: With Hillary at least putting on the good face and appearing to endorse Obama wholeheartedly, I have to wonder whether an ad like this is really going to do any good, and, I [...]

With New Ad McCain Looks To Drive Wedge Into Democrat Party

In his new ad, McCain says Obama snubbed Hillary because she “told the truth.” “The truth hurts, and Obama doesn’t like it.” A pretty powerful ad, especially when one considers just how divided the Democrat party is these days. For all the hype surrounding his campaign, it’s worth noting that Obama just eked out the nomination (and might not have got it at all if the primary votes in Michigan and Florida...
