Well, that's the end of the Republican National Convention. Quite a night! Quite a message! That's a lot to absorb, but let's let Tom Ridge summarize the big takeaway from four days of McCain's coronation. [WATCH.] TOM BROKAW: But the fact is, governor, that you have had eight years of a bush administration and a lot of Republicans in Congress for the last eight years, so why wouldn't the american...

So, I pretty much hated John McCain's speech . It was boring as all fuck, not just because McCain is a miserable orator who never manages to hit any kind of compelling rhythm, but because it was the same damn speech I've heard at every GOP convention for my entire life injected with a shot of POW, the potency of which had been thoroughly undermined by every other convention speaker having taken possession...

After Tom Brokaw asks former Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge why the American people wouldn't want a change in party, Tom Ridge answers: "Because, uh, John Bush...because John McCain is very much his own man." Watch it, AFTER THE...

Here is Tom Ridge, from McCain's short list, ex-governor of the great state of Pennsyvania, just after last night's speech, calling him "John Bush". GO TOM!!!!!

Another job hunting day for me so all I have is posts at the Detroit News, (link below) and I'll have to direct you to others for your daily read. I'm not that comfortable in dragging religion into politics, but since the GOP intends to become the evangelical party, Hart was way ahead of the curve on this story about Palin's church. Scary. Dan is covering the horrible arrests at the RNC. I still want...

I'm heartened by the fact that John McCain gave a terrible, dry, uninspired speech last night, one that was widely criticized. And by widely criticized, I don't mean just in the big, bad, evil liberal media, but by some people...

OK, so I missed McCain's speech (more on that later), but I'm catching snippets here and there and reading the reports, and it looks to me that he ate it. Of course, the guy's not known for oratory, so I wonder why they made it 53 minutes long. I guess that his main message was that the whole country must come together in the spirit of bipartisanship and line up behind every single conservative policy...

Just kidding. I didn't watch the speech (watching doddering old people on TV makes me very uncomfortable), but I've been monitoring a few live blogs and comment threads. Consensus is that the Big Speech as Teh Suck. Jeffrey Toobin actually said it was the worst acceptance speech since Jimmy Carter in 1980. Whatever bounce Palin provided last night has been utterly negated. Negative bounce, anyone?...
