Obama and Friends

The latest John McCain ad; it's effective, I think. Barack Obama is a go-along/get-along careerist who has never reformed anything. Not in Chicago, not in Springfield, not in Washington. If there is a difference between him and Dick Durbin, I haven't yet figured out what it is. Do you think people are starting to notice?

The artistic qualities of this McCain ad completely distracted me from whatever words were spoken or shown.

Watching this ad was a strange experience for me. I clicked on the teaser at Politico , so I knew "'Temple' ad mocks Obama's stage," and I'd already decided I was going to watch it, so.... Well, you try to watch it: Was your experience like mine? I was fascinated by the photographic effects in the beginning, the changing of the image to remove the crowd, and the way the "camera" pulled back from the...

Great ad strategy — hang Congress around Obama’s neck

The Democrats have tried and tried and tried thier ridiculous “3rd Bush Term” messaging strategy since the campaign began. I understand why they do it. President Bush’s approval rating hovers around 30%, making him the most unpopular sitting president in the last 50 years. However, the message just isn’t credible when attached [...]

Yes, Obama Turning Down Public Financing is Still an Epic Mistake

When I first suggested that Obama refusing public finance was a major strategic blunder , my claim was belied by the campaign's stronger than expected July fundraising. Since then, fundraising has risen to $66 million in August. We can expect it to be $80-$100 million in September and October. That seems to further justify the decision. Obama will have $160-$200 million to spend vs. McCain's $84 million....

B-List Demons

The RNC comes out with a second attack ad that starts by mocking Obama for addressing a large group - this time at Mile High stadium (the first mocked Berlin). It runs in 12 states. But what's more interesting is the weak choice of "liberal boogeymen" used in the ad. The two usuals, Hillary Clinton and Ted Kennedy, are unavailable for obvious reasons. So who's used to symbolize Obama's "liberal allies?"...

McCain's first ad in Florida

It's finally a two-man race in Florida, as John McCain and the Republican National Committee are up with his first local television ad in the nation's largest battleground state. Democrat Barack Obama had the airwaves to himself since June but...

All Palin, All the Time

As I was preparing to post John McCain's new campaign ad buy (seen below, via Captain Ed ), I checked around at some of the national and regional dailies to see if I could find a corresponding news story on Barack Obama. According to lthe evel of attention among Sunday news columnists, Sarah Palin's still the hot topic this morning, five days after the Alaska Governor made her prime-time debut in St....

New McCain ad 'Temple' stuffs Obama's line down his throat

Team Obama attacks McCain with the false attack that he voted with his Party 90% of the time (it was actually 88%), while ignoring the fact that Obama voted with Reid and company 97% of the time. This, with a Congress, controlled by the Democrats, that has a lower job approval rate - just 17.8 % than President Bush 's job approval of 33% . And since Team Obama has chosen to go down that road, turn...

There's Projection And There's Projection

You've probably already seen the picture of McCain's entrance for his RNC acceptance speech. What it illustrates extremely well is how the Republican's, in their blunt yet effective playbook, make use of projection.

Liberals Like...Byron Dorgan?

Did I just see that right, did McCain hold up Byron Dorgan as an example of the "liberals" Obama would be getting his ideas from? Yep, he did. In that much vaunted National Journal ranking that they are so want to use, Dorgan is right next to Joe "The View Inside McCain's Ass Is Nice" Lieberman with a 59-41 liberal-to-conservative rating. I get that Camp McCain still wants to demean and deride Obama...

Another edition of "armchair media conultant"

John McCain's advertisements are spectacular. They are full of motion, energy, and stunning visuals . The latest draws on superhero iconography to present McCain and Palin as a dynamic duo who will save the country by reforming Washington, DC. Obama's advertisements? In comparison, they're terrible . They look like standard campaign commercials, they don't hold anyone's attention, and they don't provide...

Democrats same old temple of doom

It is a good ad that hits the democrats with their own message.
