Keith Olbermann delivered an amazing "special comment" this evening devoted to the passage of Proposition 8. Says Olbermann: "This isn't about yelling, and this isn't about politics, and this isn't really just about Prop-8. And I don't have a personal...

A radical left-wing protest group infiltrated Mount Hope Church in Lansing, Michigan, on Sunday. The protesters, clad with pink scarves and carrying hatchet and sledgedhammers, stormed the church , yelling epithets and militant gay pride slogans: The group also handed out fliers .... “We specialize in confronting homophobia, transphobia and every and all other forms of oppression,” the fliers read....

A former colleague of mine at my old job who’s probably in his late 60s and recently retired sent me this video featuring Keith Olbermann’s commentary on the overturning of the right of all people to marry, no matter your sexual orientation, in California. He is one of the warmest, smartest, dearest men I know [...]

Last Thursday night, when Rachel wanted some expert opinion, she talked to bloggers - Steve Benen and Nate Silver. Nate thinks there might be something funny going on in the Alaska vote count. I really thought old Hindraker had already reached the depths of stupidity when he wrote that adoring post about Bush's wonderfulness, but he seems to have surpassed himself with his advice to Obama to be a better...

I feel like it would be a disservice to have seen this and not do my meager part to make sure as many eyeballs are on it as possible. Just beautiful. [via Andy]

It's really sad that only the choir and not the people who really need it the most will watch this. Last night, Keith Olbermann of MSNBC's Countdown fired off one of the most moving and convincing oratories I've heard about gay marriage and those who voted in favor of Prop 8 . If you know anyone who still needs further convincing, send this on, or forward the full text of his comments.

Backers of California's Proposition 8, which enshrined a ban on same-sex marriages in the state constitution, scored a narrow victory on November 4th, winning 52.3% of the vote. The immediate impact in California is huge: the invalidation of 18,000 marriages. But that vote didn't put an end to the fierce debate, not even close. People have been protesting Prop 8's success in Los Angeles, San Diego,...

Some gay activists are causing a stir in California through demonstrations against the Mormon Church, and for occasionally demonstrating vile racism (see updates) in response to voting analysis that shows blacks voted in favour of Proposition 8 -- the ballot...

Please watch this video. Even if you think Olbermann is shrill or annoying or sexist (all of which he can be at times). I think, or at least I hope fervently, that what he's said here will catch fire as a defense of gay marriage that echoes in discourse all over the country. It's tempting to characterize the fight for gays to marry as a question of fairness, because denying marriage to an entire group...

When I see some evidence that "No On Whatever the Christians Want" gang is capable of listening instead of screaming "Bigot!" and beating up little old ladies, I'd really like to answer Keith's question, "What is it to you?" If...

For those of you who missed it, here's Keth Olberman of MSNBC on the passage of Proposition 8, overturning the right to same-sex marriage in California: Olberman makes some excellent points, but the one quibble I have with him is the notion that marriage is merely a semantic point when other legal options--like civil unions--exist. If it isn't called "marriage" an enormous loophole iscreated, allowing...

Don't have much to add to this except I am also a straight man from a family of straight folks who support Marriage Equality and just don't get this whole homophobic anti-gay marriage movement: What I don't understand is how two consenting adults loving each other threatens anyone else? My marriage isn't threatened if gays can marry!

[FP/A.R.] I'm involved in a lot of things and I'm on a lot of lists. One of them is the Democracy for America State Leaders. A notice came through today about protest rallies that are being held around the country on November 15th. The rally in Seattle will be at Volunteer Park starting at 10:30am. This is a timed event with synchronized events going on across the country. There is also an event in...
