Yes We Can

(YouTube link) I wouldn't normally post a political video here unless it was funny, but the story on this one is how it took off like a rocket. I thought this was quite interesting when I first saw it linked on Metafilter yesterday. It was released Friday, posted to YouTube only yesterday, but this morning copies [...]

Yes We Did

As we absorb the news that an African-American is now the Democratic party's presumptive nominee for the presidency of the United States, a few words. No one should allow the tortuous end of this primary journey to obscure the passion...

You saw the Obama video, now watch the McCain one [AMERICAblog: A great nation deserves the truth]

Please watch this. It's from my friend Andy Cobb and his brilliant cast of insane comedians and actors out in Hollywood. (For anyone who hasn't seen the Obama video, you can watch it here first to get a flavor of the parody.) I laughed out loud.

Will.I.Am: From Online Video To Convention Floor

The Black Eyed Peas' Will.I.Am just finished performing his Emmy-Award-winning online hit "Yes We Can" at Invesco Field in Denver on the last evening of the 2008 Democratic National Convention. The music video debuted on DipDive.com and YouTube on Super Tuesday in February, and it...

Michelle Malkin Tries Her Hand At Singing & Political Satire - And Fails

This is so unbelievably terrible that words escape me — so I’ll let our friend TRex break it down for you; It's intended, I guess, as a response to the Will.I.Am/Obama video and its target is Hillary and it's supposed to be funny, I guess. No, no, funny-ha-ha. At least, I think it is. I have [...]

LAT Notices YouTube Mostly Harsh on McCain, Gauzy on Obama

Los Angeles Times staff writer James Rainey has an article today taking a look at the lack of love for John McCain on YouTube compared to the multiple hosannas found when searching for videos of the Obamessiah: Search "John McCain" on YouTube and you'll find the latest broadside, by Brave New Films of Culver City, and a lot more that's not good for a candidate who's built his reputation on constancy...

Another From The will.i.am Obama Songbook

It's a Hollywood maxim: If you've got a hit, do a sequel. So will.i.am, fresh off his blockbuster "Yes We Can" video for Barack Obama, is back with another. This time he calls it "We Are The Ones." Like most sequels, it fails to capture the full magic of the original . It has more Hollywood stars (Ryan Phillippe, Jon Leguizamo, Jessica Alba), less of a musical hook, and almost no sampling of the candidate....

Obama’s Caucus-State Magic

Susan Davis reports on the presidential race. Of the 22 states holding Democratic nominating contests tonight, seven of those are holding caucuses instead of primaries. So far, Sen. Barack Obama is performing strong in those states, with victories already declared in Minnesota, North Dakota, Colorado, Idaho and Kansas. The remaining two, Alaska and New Mexico, [...]

Ba-rocking in Hawai’i with Maya Soetoro-Ng and Kelly Hu

Aloha! On Friday, I attended the Stand for Change Rally at the University of Hawai'i (UH) with Hawai'i-born actress Kelly Hu and Maya. The energy at the rally was terrific. It was inspiring to watch them deliver an elegant and compelling argument for Barack. Over 150 people listened to Kelly and Maya explain why people should support Barack and both described their experiences on the campaign trail....

Musical Interlude

The people already in Invesco Field were just treated to Will.I.Am (of the Black Eyed Peas) and John Legend, backed by a sizable choir, singing "Yes We Can," based on a Barack Obama speech, with the words of the speech echoing in the background, as in the video above. Whether you like Obama or not, it was pretty cool to watch.

Songs About Obama Are Music to His Ears

Not only does Obama think that song is about him, he counts it as one of his favorites. Photo: Getty Images Blender just released a list of Barack Obama's and John McCain’s top-ten favorite songs, and, like anything the candidates do that shouldn’t really matter, we feel duty bound to scrutinize it for political ramifications. McCain’s list contains two ABBA songs in his top three, which is two more...

This Will Leave a Mark

Ouch: The whole thing is kind of meta, in that you have to have seen the Obama viral video in order to really appreciate it, but it is still pretty damning. I laughed out loud at the “we’re screwed” hand gesture and the fellow hyperventilating into the bag. (via Atrios )
