With Rod Blagojevich reminding me so vividly of Clay Davis , and Baltimore's Mayor in real life, Sheila Dixon, getting indicted on twelve counts, including theft and perjury charges , I might as well double down on The Wire and put up this YouTube that's been burning up the web lately. From HBO and DJ Mad Skillz , a five-seasons-in-five-minutes "Rap Up," that goes from start to finish -- brilliantly...

A five-minute rap video that summarizes all five seasons of The Wire . Police chief, yeah, his rank is proper 'Cause of the window, he starts a war with Frank Sobotka. MIA's Paper Planes is still my favorite Wire-inspired song, but this is pretty sweet. (thx, about 2000 people) ( link )

Want a fast catch-up on David Simon's The Wire , generally regarded as the greatest TV show in the history of Earth but don't have 60 consecutive hours? Helpfully, rapper Skillz (already a recapping legend for his annual year-spanning Rap-Ups ) has recorded a spoiler-filled primer on all five seasons. Now if he'd only do the same for all these other shows you might finally get some work done. Read...

They’ve done it before but they went all hip hop for the whole thing and got Skillz to wrap it up for them. I know eskay got the box set but I’ve actually never seen an episode of The Wire. HBO just got to Canada! Props to Shake.

Today, I coined a new word: rapromo . Whaddat? Exhibit A: Gossip Girl rap from the Southern Mothers . Exhibit B: The Wire rap from Mad Skillz . Both quasi-parodies appear to be solicited by the producers of the show. Is this an interesting new marketing trend? Banal brand extension? The death of hip-hop? And ends to a means? The weakest attempt to create a meme you've ever seen?

If you were slightly disappointed in last year’s annual “Wrap Up,” take comfort in knowing that Skillz was frying even bigger fish for the 2K9. The Wire. 5 Seasons in 5 minutes. He makes it look all too easy. Maybe there should be a ***spoiler alert*** attached to this but if you’re not up on The Wire [...]

The Wire is the greatest show in the history of television. A five-minute rap song about the five seasons of The Wire ? Not so much. In the video above rapper Skillz dishes on all the plot points of the show's five season run in a pretty corny song. I'm not really sure who this would be of value to (maybe people who don't want to watch the show, but would like to vaguely know something about it, and...

Fresh off his annual year-end wrap-up , Skillz wraps up all 5 seasons of the acclaimed TV series, The Wire in 5 minutes. And get this: it's actually official ! This might be even more impressive than wrapping up Robocop in 10 minutes . [spotted via 2 Dope Boyz ]

Sorry the tour updates have been sparse today. An odd schedule, where most of the interesting stuff ("Breaking Bad," "The Prisoner") are at the very end of the day. I'll have some posts on those later tonight or early tomorrow, but in the meantime: five seasons of "The Wire" in a five minute rap , which may be the best of these "X Seasons of Y in X Minutes" videos since the original "Sopranos" one....

I started this blog back when Joel Giambra was cool and I used to post a weekly review of my favorite viral videos of the week. Well, I haven’t done that since Joel Giambra became unemployed and lonely, so I thought I would start it up again. Here’s a backlog edition of videos I think are [...]

Ryan Seacrest is such a kidder. Seriously, high-fiving a guy who is legally blind? Hilarious. We’ve also got plenty of other bloopers this week on Weird Web Wednesday including a cat in the news room, Japanese blackface, and a chubby guy showing off some slick parkour moves. The internet giveth and the internet taketh away. [...]

This rap (embedded above) summarizes all five seasons of The Wire. Spoiler alert, naturally, if you haven’t yet seen the best television show ever created. (And why haven’t you') Related: The “Re-elect Clay Davis” T-shirt. (Via Kottke.)

In five minutes this is the entire five season run of The Wire . Don’t like nuance, acting, characters, television or writing: this is for you. For a small fee, or really none at all, Skillz will recap anything. I’m looking into having him recap this post.
