Obviously, visuals can be highly damaging to a candidate, such as the mild images of Hillary at the Tuzla airport after she spoke of being greeted by gunfire. However, we don't often break down why. In this case: 1. The latter shot evokes the image of the threatened young children asleep in Clinton's 3AM "Who Can You Rely On?" ad. What the Tuzla imbroglio does is to raise the question whether...

Apparently being caught lying on your resume brings out the venomous side in Sen. Clinton. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, in a wide-ranging interview today with Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reporters and editors, said she would have left her church if her pastor made the sort of inflammatory remarks Sen. Barack Obama's former pastor made. "He would not have been my pastor," Clinton said. "You...

You may have heard of Rev. John Hagee, the McCain supporter who said God created Hurricane Katrina to punish New Orleans for its homosexual "sins." Well now meet Rev. Rod Parsley, the televangelist megachurch pastor from Ohio who hates Islam. According to David Corn of Mother Jones , Parsley has called on Christians to wage war against Islam, which he considers to be a "false religion."...

I can't quite believe it. Russert, Drudge and Chuck Todd have now said Obama is the nominee.

I’m not sure why this was done, but it's cute. Beats the hell out of throwing a rock in a lake.

I'll probably regret this, it breaks Godwin's law, and there are lots of very naughty words, but it made me laugh:

Even though it might mean a long term problem for me to continue posting on this site. I mean, truth be told: he does kind of grow on you after a while. I can see the attraction; and it is entirely possible that my irrational reaction to his candidacy might have been solely due to the way I was raised? Forgive me, but that was difficult to admit. Anyway, check out his latest one for yourself. See...

The Wausau Daily Herald has details; YouTube has video, which seems consistent with the Wausau article. The display was an array of crosses aimed at symbolizing the deaths of aborted fetuses. For confirmation that the vandal (Roderick King) was a Student Senator, see here . The vandal's rationale: In 1973 it was made a Constitutional right for a woman to have an abortion. It's not your responsibility....

This is one of the most unusual ads I've seen from a presidential candidate. It is endearing and serious at the same time. Take one look at the woman to the right of John McCain -- his mother -- and questions about McCain's age -- relevant and appropriate questions to be sure -- seem less urgent. The ad is airing on ABC Family, A&E;, Lifetime, Oxygen and TLC.

The wait for Tom Waits dates is over (zing!) As previously reported , the hard-to-hate Waits promised a spate of the things in the U.S. and Europe just as the season to mate comes to an end. Hey, that's great! And now Tom has delivered, revealing a 13-date North American trek, with European shows in the works. It's all supporting, er, Scarlett Johansson's soon-to-arrive record of Tom Waits covers...

We’ve all done it, accidentally dialed someone with our cellphone while it's in a pocket or bag, but this soldier in Afghanistan went one better. Stuck in a firefight against Taliban insurgents, he accidentally pocket-dialed his parents back home, leaving a three-minute recording of the combat on their answering machine. He lived through it, but the [...]

There can be little doubt now that Old Media is applying full-court pressure to anoint Barack Obama with the Democratic nomination, and on Hillary Clinton to drop out of the race. The New York Times's stories for tomorrow's print edition (" Support for Clinton Wanes as Obama Sees Finish Line" and "Pundits Declare the Race Over ") clearly point in those directions. The first describes...
