Mauritius, South Africa to sign agreement on sea rescue

Port-Louis, Mauritius - Mauritius and South Africa will soon sign an agreement establishing cooperation and coordination for sea searches and rescue, a Mauritius government official said in Port-Louis on Saturday. He said the decision was taken during the weekly meeting of the council of ministers which met Friday.

The figures published by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) indicated that as at 1 July, 2008, the country had 626,741 males and 642,094 females, giving a sex r atio of 97.6 males per 100 females.

Port-Louis, Mauritius - The Central Statistics Office (CSO) indicated Tuesday that the number of people killed on Mauritian roads grew by 7% (from 71 to 76) between January and June 2008, compared to the corresponding period last year. A total of 1,551 casualties were reported during the same period, compared to 1,530 for the corresponding period of 2007, representing an increase of 1.4%.
