There are times that the press lets stuff by that is simply breathtakingly stupid. Here they are eager to associate the present low water levels at Lake Titicaca with global warming causation while in the same sentence establishing that lower levels are historical in 1949 and obviously before. All they have established, besides their belief system is that there is a decadal cycle out there that impacts...

Coroico what a beautiful place. It reminded me very much of Mindo but definitely not as good as I am so very fond of Mindo. The cloud forest is probably one of my favourite places. It has the right climate beautiful scenery and enough life to keep my wildlife obsession happy This was a nice break from the hustle and bustle of La Paz the biggest city in Bolivia. Coroico is just a 3 hour bus r

Travelled north to Rurrenabaque, a small town downriver from the Amazon jungle. The journey, was an 18 hour bus journey on roads that can only be described as hazardous and at times hair raising.... Returning a week later I opted for the more expensive option (47 pounds, total, as opposed to 8 pounds on the bus) of flying back to La Paz, a flight of 35 minutes and worth every extra penny. Rurrenabaque...

The Independent (UK) : Once home to the highest ski resort in the world and now reduced to a rocky mountainside, Bolivia's Chacaltaya range bears powerful witness to the precipitous melting of glaciers. The rusting remains of a ski lift now dominate what was once the highest ski-run in the world perched on the Chacaltaya glacier at some 5,300 meters (17,390 feet) high. "That's all there's left:...

The surreality of La Paz is perhaps expressed no more distinctly than in the Valley of the Moon or Valle de la Luna as it is known here. Where in England could you find a city where moonscapes flank its edges Quite normal here though normal in this capital of Bolivia a microcosm of the strangeness of its mother country. We visited the valley this morning but I'm still not sure what to m

Coroico has offered us a chance to relax for the past few days. A haven just a handful of hours away from La Paz and a place to gather our thoughts before heading down into the depths of Bolivia. Set within the cloud forest and as similar a place to Mindo as we have so far found. A pocketful of paradise is as good a description as any.The journey here was as interesting as the place itself. On my way to BoliviaFrom Puno I took the bus to Bolivia. It was an incredible ride alongside lake Titicaca. After crossing the border I had to change buses at Copacabana. So I had a walk around and found a place to sit and chat with other travellers. It is a nice peaceful place but my plan was to go to La Paz the capital of Bolivia. So after a ride we finally entered La Paz and it was beautiful

By CARLOS VALDEZ (AP) LA PAZ, Bolivia — Evaporation blamed on global warming has reduced Lake Titicaca, one of the world’s highest navigable lakes, to its lowest level since 1949, authorities said Thursday. Bolivia used their home advantage to claim another big scalp in South American World Cup qualifying as they beat Brazil 2-1 in La Paz. Back in April, Bolivia thrashed Argentina 6-1 as Diego Maradona's team could not cope with the 3,600 meters altitude, and have now ended Brazil's 11-game winning streak.
