"The killings began in the vast Baghdad neighborhood of Sadr City, a stronghold of Moqtada al-Sadr's Mahdi Army militia, and spread to many cities across Iraq. Mahdi Army spokesmen have promoted fears about the "third sex" and the "feminization" of Iraq men, and suggested that militia action was the remedy. Some people told Human Rights Watch that Iraqi security forces have...

When you read a suspicious-sounding story on the Middle East in the US media, always look for the transliteration and corruption (often extreme) of Arabic words in the story. When you read the letter "kh" inserted where it does not belong, you can bet that an Israeli intelligence propagandist is the source of the story. Look at this one here in the Washington...

The "Battle of Basra" is being characterized by the media as an example of failure in Iraq. I will argue that it is not a failure at all, and it in fact signifies the readiness of a unified Iraqi government to force al-Sadr into the political process. If and when Moqtada and his Mahdi Army lay down their weapons this will portend a successful election later in the year which will influence the US...
