SHIMA, Mie Pref. (Kyodo) Overnight leader Song Bo Bae closed with a 4-under 68 Sunday to win the Mizuno Classic by three strokes. The Japan-based South Korean finished at 15-under 201 at Kintetsu Kashikojima Country Club in Mie Prefecture for her third career Japan LPGA title and second of the season following the Japan Women's Open in October.

NEW YORK (Kyodo) The Kansas City Royals said Friday the team will not exercise the option on right-hander Yasuhiko Yabuta for next season. Yabuta will become a free agent if his renegotiation with the Royals for a new major league contract fails before Nov. 16. He hopes to play back in Japan as well, according to baseball sources.

South Korea's Pohang Steelers were crowned kings of Asia on Saturday after a 2-1 win over Saudi Arabia's Al Ittihad in the Asian Champions League final in Tokyo. Pohang's continental triumph was its first since the tournament was revamped in 2002. The K-League side won the ACL's forerunner — the Asian Club Championship — in 1997 and 1998.

NAGANO — Miki Ando continued her resurgence by capturing her second Grand Prix title of the season on Saturday night at Big Hat.
